Art Researcher, Painter, Calligrapher, Educator, Computer Scientist
Ruimin Lyu, a male associate professor at the School of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science of Jiangnan University, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in the UK and a member of the China Computer Federation (CCF). His research and practice focus on the intersection of art and science, particularly in empirical aesthetics, computer art, and human-computer interaction. His work involves developing graphic art applications and games aimed at bridging art and science, enhancing scientific intuition through art, and vice versa. Stemming from his childhood education in traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting and his ongoing passion, in the recent years, he has focused on traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting. Leveraging his interdisciplinary background, he combines cutting-edge technologies such as experimentation, data, and artificial intelligence with traditional experiential exploration methods to deeply study the culture, cognition and intelligence embedded in them. Merging backgrounds in traditional calligraphy and painting, electronic science, optical engineering, and digital art, he makes unique contributions to contemporary calligraphy and painting practice, cross-disciplinary research in art and engineering, and interdisciplinary education.
